Final

Well, Layout and Typography is now over with. I got my final turned in tonight and there is nothing left to do but leave one last blog. The press kit for my book went fairly well, I thought. I was able to put together a good postcard and neat poster promoting my book. They looked pretty cool to me. The overall final project of the book and press kit was pretty cool to see once it was all done with.

Problem 6

My book is finished and is in the process of being produced!! It feels good to have the book done and not have to worry about it anymore. It was a lot of work, but I think I'm going to like the looks of it. There was a lot of work to do in the book that dealt with the layout. After messing around with all of the pages, I eventually came up with a product that I was quite pleased with. It was interesting to see and do all of the work that goes into making a book. I think I might use Blurb again in the future.

Problem 6

This book assignment sounds like quite the project. I'm looking forward to getting to actually design my own book the way that I want it done. It seems like it will be pretty fun to do, even though it's a lot of work.

Problem 5

I was a little nervous about this fifth assignment. I am not a big fan of brochures because I am not very good at them. And to do it on what I did on my spring break was going to be difficult since I stayed in Fargo-Moorhead. While this presented a challenge for me, I was still able to figure out someway to incorporate the different things I did over spring break in the brochure.

Problem 4

I was intrigued to get started on the forth problem. I knew there was some pretty interesting stuff I could do with quotes and I had some fun with it. Being I enjoy baseball so much, I went with a quote from former professional baseball player Yogi Berra. And since it was just Black History Month, I thought an excerpt from Martin Luther King, Jr. would be perfect. For all of the posters I made sure to use the correct fonts for modern and traditional and tried to make the layouts match for modern and traditional as well. My favorite poster was the Yogi Berra one where the baseball player is hitting the baseball.

Problems 3A & 3B

I was pretty excited to do this third assignment. I enjoy doing different things like this. Putting together the pictures with the sign description was kind of fun. It was interesting putting together all of the different options I could to use for the signs and eventually picking the best ones. The fonts was my favorite part of the assignment. I really like to play around with random fonts and I thought it was fun to put these fonts to use.

Problem 2

Weather

I had no idea what I was going to do right away for the second assignment. After I thought about it for a while, I thought what better to do than average weather temperatures in Fargo-Moorhead throughout the year. Once I got the data, I knew there was going to be a few different ways I could present this visually and I decided to display the different articles of clothing one could wear during each season.

Problem 1

Apple

Outlet
I thought it was kind of interesting that we were supposed to draw different things for the first assignment. It took me a while to figure out what I was going to draw. But once I thought a while, the objects came easy to think of. I thought it was good that we had to think outside of what we normally are required to do. It helped keep my mind fresh.
